POWER is an acronym for Progressive Organization for Women Empowerment and Rehabilitation. POWER Foundation is distinct as compared to other organizations as the messages of intervention on the ground is taken to the stakeholders and communicate the change that is taking place. Established in 2014, POWER is a window for outsiders to gain more of a contextualized understanding of the gender dimensions of developmental issues in India. In addition to ensuring the women and children are healthy and happy and providing them with both education and avenues for economic independence, we work towards elimination of discrimination against women and girls; empowerment of women; and achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development.

 

POWER is especially concerned with finding practical models of ensuring achievement of Sustainable Development Goals 3, 4, 5, 6, 10 and 16.

Goal 3 -ensure healthy lives and promote well being for all at all ages.

Goal 4 – ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote life long opportunities for all.

Goal 5 – achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

Goal 6 – ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

Goal 10 – reduce inequality within and among countries.

Goal 16 – promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
